Today we talk about Acrostic world, a book by Promise Beshel published with our publishing house Europe Books.
Europe Books had the pleasure of interviewing the author Promise Beshel to get to know him better and to discover about the crucial themes of his book Acrostic world.
Below you can find our interview. Take a seat and enjoy your reading!!!
- What are the crucial themes of your book?
There is just one central theme and that is love. Everything else stems from love or its abuse. Love makes room for dialogue; dialogue creates room for harmony. In our differences which continue to exist across races, tribes, and other demographic distributions, peace reigns from respecting boundaries and holding equity and fairness in high esteem–Love’s ways. There is no discord today which has no root cause in hate–be it a hatred for divergent ideas or views, or that for systems, institutions, regions, or persons. Man seems to have found it easier to respect fellowman (if at all) than respect man’s environment, and this too is a pressure point in not only today’s existence, but one of great concern whose effect must pervade the future. Think about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for a moment and one can safely conclude that not one of them has nothing to do with man, amongst other conclusions available to draw. What this means is that the burden has always lain on each human to propagate the ideal world for the existence of peace, harmony, an even spread of prosperity, a stronghold of equality, and a flourishing of human and environmental health.
- What do you want to communicate to readers with this work?
Basically, it says the solutions to our woes lie within those woes, and can only be seen and embraced when individually we take responsibility by first being sincere to ourselves, then repeating that step collectively as a people, a community, a nation. It puts harsh truths on the front burner: Why invest in warfare for instance–whose effects are also damaging to environment–when we can invest in trust and sincerity of purpose? The planet has a common enemy and that enemy is each of us. This is where it all begins. How are we individually manning our turf within our little spaces? How are we treating our families, wards, associates, allies? What is so special in affluence and power that must make nations roll up sleeves and ball up fists unend? What have we allowed religious fanaticism and chronic partisanship do to us so much so that we pocket humaneness just to score miserable points that paint us as warlords, religionists, and/or economic powers? What we hold on to so strongly in view of strength is the very poisons that weaken our limbs and willpower as channels for love, or channels for a special kind of love–unconditional love.
- How did you choose the title of your book?
Whew! Well this proved quite a task at the onset, so I just ignored it. It is safe to say that there was no title until the book was done. The anatomy of the title draws from the major characteristics of the book itself. Firstly, it was written such that the messages within it are held firmly in place by all the countries and territories of the world (as at year 2017 when the project was conceived and started),in alphabetical order. It is the listing of these countries and territories that gives the work its acrostic credence. Then again, the crucial themes housed in the book’s treatise fall helplessly on the shoulders of the world and all that man does within the 510.1 trillion-square-meter-organic sphere ball. The dependence of each line on the other is itself a message to the reader that no nation is truly complete without the other, and that with unity and attention on a common sincere goal, we can achieve highly positive results that mean a win for mankind, and a win for planet. There was no better way in the end to sum these all up than in two simple, beautiful, words: Acrostic World.
- How was your publishing experience?
If only there was an apter way to put it… I’d say it shaped minds at both ends–the publisher’s and the author’s–and offered cues and clues to invaluable afterthoughts, be it for good, for not so good, or for bad, depending on the side of the divide you look from, and depending on the event in consideration. In retrospect, I particularly enjoyed the early stages of the publishing the most. The first staff of Europe Books who contacted me was downright great, professional, and convincing. The options for communication were wide and the timing flexible. I enjoyed discussing my work over the phone, it deepened connection with the publisher. The work is strong testimony that publishing happened; the book quality is fair testimony of good effort, and this blog post is indication of a willingness to improve on what follows after the book is out. Learning is forever. The untold details of my publishing journey are a juicy nut to crack. Overall, I’d say it remains a worthy journey for worthier reasons than a response to the enquiry.
- Are you planning to write more books?
This is a tricky one, because I literally write every[other]day! So, am I planning to publish more books (or be published)? Absolutely, yes! I have the first draft of two finished manuscripts for instance, and there are more in the offing. What I guarantee is that whereas one of these two would prove a great read for those who love to hold lots of intriguing pages in their hands while their eyes rove the edges and perhaps crevices of every word and sentence therein with keen intent, the other is novel, just like acrostic world–only more mind-blowing and proof that nothing in the flexible world of art is impossible, especially when poetry is involved. Beyond paperback books and e-books, I have great plans for audio books. Matter of fact, my audio book project promises a mesmerizing experience. I’d leave it at this, and hope that what I have done with Acrostic World leaves no doubt on the mind of the reader that creativity has found a way with me.
