Today we talk about Communists-21Programme for Socialism, a book by Karol Ondriaš published with our publishing house Europe Books.

Europe Books had the pleasure of interviewing the author Karol Ondriaš to get to know him better, where he found the inspiration to write his book Communists-21Programme for Socialism, as well as how it was his publishing experience.

Below you can find our interview. Take a seat and enjoy your reading!!!

  • Where did you find the inspiration to write your book?

My inspiration drew on my personal experiences of life in socialist Czechoslovakia from my birth in 1952 until 1988, my experiences of life at universities in the United States from 1988 to 1996 (with some interruptions), and my subsequent life in capitalist Slovakia. As a researcher in biophysics, I have a professional compulsion to examine everything and compare it based on verifiable data. So it happened that I began comparing socialism from 1948 to 1989 in socialist Slovakia with the capitalism we had in Slovakia before 1948 and have had since 1989. I concluded that socialism in Slovakia was an incredible communist miracle of humanity, respect for human rights, the Ten Commandments, and the development of Slovakia in all areas, such as education, science and technology, agriculture, construction, industry… I was amazed at how easy and simple it was during socialism in Slovakia to solve all the current crimes of capitalism. How easy it was to eliminate corruption, drug addiction, the mafia, contract killings, mutual hatred, homelessness, unemployment, suicide, depression in children and adults, crime, and at the same time develop Slovakia in all areas of human rights and humanity. I was also inspired by the ubiquitous, calculated lies in the capitalist world—and after 1989, in Slovakia as well—regarding “the crimes of communism” in Slovakia and the former Eastern European socialist bloc. These lies were intended to destroy the emerging human civilization in these countries and subsequently colonize them. I was also inspired by the realization that the laws of capitalism and the development of science, technology, weapons of mass destruction, and artificial intelligence—along with the manipulation of the Homo sapiens brain—will lead to further crimes of capitalism, worse than World War I and World War II. This could even lead to the destruction of civilization on our planet. That is why, based on my experience with socialism, I have studied how to organize the world so that such a catastrophe does not occur. That is why, in my book, I present a communist program for the 21st century.

  • What is the message you want to send out with your writing?

Simply put, the book contains instructions on how to easily eliminate war, corruption, drug addiction, the mafia, contract killings, mutual hatred, homelessness, unemployment, suicide, depression in children and adults, crime…, because that is essentially how it was eliminated under socialism in Slovakia from 1948 to 1989. The instructions in the book have been adapted to apply to the entire planet. The development of capitalism in the 21st century has brought further wars over wealth and power; the imbalance between the rich and the poor continues to grow; more and more people are surviving on antidepressants; and weapons of mass destruction are becoming more sophisticated and widespread, which could lead to further terrible wars in which civilization might perish. The message that emerges from my book is clear: The continuation of war-driven capitalism is leading us to ruin, and therefore the global order must be restructured. We must abolish capitalism and establish socialism. The book outlines a communist program that proposes a new world order to ensure our civilization moves forward safely, where the human rights of all its inhabitants are respected. The program proposes the creation of a new, humane civilization that will ensure that: the advanced civilization of Homo sapiens will not be destroyed; it will eliminate the endless wars of capitalism, as a product of capitalism; it will ensure lasting peace on the planet as a legitimate product of socialism; abolishes the rule of the global elites; eliminates massive inequality in wealth and income;  eliminates the physical and mental colonization of Homo sapiens; ensures the just development of nations and countries on the planet…

  • How did your passion for writing start?

I never thought I’d write books. But two events led me to start writing. One morning in December 1989, I was watching a live TV broadcast in New York of the U.S. bombing Panama, with dead people lying on the sidewalk and the wounded in the hospital corridors. By the afternoon, the broadcast was already showing scenes from Panama, with people dancing in the streets out of joy that they had rid themselves of the dictator Noriega. The second event that prompted me to write book was that in 1992 or 1993, I watched a documentary The Panama Deception on television in New York about the invasion of Panama by U.S. troops—an event that took place in December 1989. As a citizen of Czechoslovakia, or rather Slovakia, I began to compare the 1989 invasion of Panama by U.S. troops with the 1968 invasion of Czechoslovakia by Warsaw Pact forces led by the Soviet Union. In 1968, I was living in Czechoslovakia, and in 1989 in the U.S., so I had a bit of an opportunity to witness these events firsthand. After watching the aforementioned documentary on American television (I think it was CBS), it seemed to me that the U.S. military in Panama behaved with the same level of humanity as Nazi troops during their military campaign in Eastern Europe during World War II. In contrast, the invasion of Czechoslovakia by Warsaw Pact troops in 1968 then seemed to me like a relatively humane military operation.  I wrote a book about it in Slovak “Všeobecné kecy, fakty a nezodpovedané otázky” (General nonsense, facts, and unanswered questions). which was a success—something that pleasantly surprised me. That’s why I decided to write more books.

  • How was your publishing experience?

I could write a novel about my experiences with publishing in Slovakia, which would be titled: “How Moral Idiots Imagine Freedom of Speech and Freedom of the Press.” It is important to realize that following the coup in Czechoslovakia-Slovakia in 1989, a massive anti-communist propaganda campaign began, based on two pillars: moral depravity and mental depravity. Communists were declared criminals comparable to fascists; there was constant talk of “the crimes of communism”, etc. Promoting socialism was and still is a criminal offense. Even wearing a T-shirt with a hammer and sickle is a criminal offense, etc. That is why I write in the introduction to my books that “I, Karol Ondriaš, hereby declare that everything written and stated below is fictitious, etc…”. I usually wrote and formatted the books myself, so all that was left was to print them. No publishing house in Slovakia wanted to publish books on political topics, even though I was willing to pay for the printing. My friends formally published and printed the political books, and they are also available for free download from the website. The situation has improved over the last few years, and some books have been legally published as e-books. Publishing this book with Europe Books was very easy.

  • Are you planning to write more books? Can you tell us more about it?

I don’t know the answer right now. Writing books has always been and continues to be a side hobby of mine alongside my academic work, and it has always stemmed from an inner need to write a book on a given topic. I started writing a book “A Fatal Showdown Homo sapiens vs. Homo idioticus. What’s the current score?”. I’m just getting started, and I don’t even know if I’ll ever finish it. I’m still tempted to keep writing about the communist miracle of a new, humane civilization. In conclusion: No one has ever forced me to write. I’ve always written for the sheer joy of it. But I’m getting on in years, so we’ll see. And I have plenty of other joys in life.
