Today we talk about The Monster, a book by Mark Relic published with our publishing house Europe Books.
Europe Books had the pleasure of interviewing the author Mark Relic to get to know him better, where he found the inspiration to write his book The Monster, as well as how his passion for Writing started.
Below you can find our interview. Take a seat and enjoy your reading!!!
- Where did you find the inspiration to write your book?
The funny thing about an inspiration is it can be everywhere and nowhere. In this particular matter, with “The Monster”, it came as elements from different directions. It is a multi-layered storyline slightly related to some of my previous work. It is a human story that I am strongly drawn to, and a very abstract event that questions everything. Inspiration is in potential to overcome pretty much anything and everything that comes as a challenge.
- What is the message you want to send out with your writing?
The message is discovery and exploration of the potential and strength we all have. What happens when it gets questioned by outside and inside factors. What do we do with the potential we have? How do we find it and live with it? Or does it find us? It is personal and organic. So once we realize it, what do we do with it? What happens if we lose it? It is greatly about the identity behind it. How to build it and re-build it.
- How did your passion for writing start?
I am a passionate and dynamic person with everything I do, but the paradox is I felt quite the opposite towards books when I was a kid. My mother (puppeteer) took me to a theater when I was very young. That kind of led me towards everything that followed next. I have found a passion that manifested through written words. This is the world I keep exploring. I have always been a dreamer. So writing brings that dream to life. Writing is what’s left when you lose everything else. Maybe it sounds strange but it’s true.
- How was your publishing experience?
Let me put it this way, it is all about finding the right people. When you find the right people, you can do whatever you like. Professionalism and results are key factors in anything. When you have them two, you have repeat business.
- Are you planning to write more books? Can you tell us more about it?
It’s funny, you know… Writing is a very dangerous profession. You may write something at some point and never write anything ever again. I’ve discovered writing as a path. A journey. Spiritual, physical, mental. It is its own process. You grow, expand, learn. It is an endless world of limitless possibilities. I am drawn to that. So, yes, more is coming in full swing. Currently I’m working on the next novel and this one will be the biggest one I’ve written so far.
