Europe Books is proud to present “World Oil Dynamics: A Consumer Producer Behavioral Order – Volume I”, a book by Augustine A. Ikein

Today we talk about World Oil Dynamics: A Consumer Producer Behavioral Order – Volume I, a book by Augustine A. Ikein published with our publishing house Europe Books.

Europe Books had the pleasure of interviewing the author Augustine A. Ikein to get to know him better, what prompted him to the writing of his book World Oil Dynamics: A Consumer Producer Behavioral Order – Volume I, as well as how he briefly describes in what way the world could benefit from an “energy collaboration” among countries.

Below you can find our interview. Take a seat and enjoy your reading!!!

  • What prompted you to the writing of your book?

My inspired motivation to write this books stems from my previous research on my backyard (my Home Country) on the Impact of oil on a developing Country: The case Nigeria, Praeger New York 1990 The findings suggest that the distribution of benefits skewed more to non-oil producing areas than oil-producing areas of the Niger Delta under national revenue sharing provisions. This is due to an ineffective national distribution policy, which requires revision to achieve a balanced economy and equal benefits for all. The experiences and success of this study have led me to study a holistic approach on world oil dynamics, focusing on consumer-producer behavioural order. This approach aims to identify influencing factors that will propel nations towards a common energy security future with peace. In Energy and Oil Politics, no one has realistically put together key players and the rest of the world in one piece, focusing on the uniqueness of each player’s behavioural patterns in the world energy scene. This book aims to provide an in-depth, conceptual, and pragmatic understanding of the unique behavioural order of oil-consuming and producing countries, allowing for a comprehensive integration of behavioural patterns in national and international energy politics and diplomacy from the past to contemporary times.

  • What would you like to hear from your readers?

I would like each reader to make his or her independent assessment of the book’s message to the world on the ever-changing dynamics of oil, Geopolitics and human development that the dynamics and sustainable development of our civilization depends on reliable access to energy. It is best assured by strengthened partnership between energy-producing and consuming countries, including enhanced dialogue on growing energy interdependence, security of supply and demand issues to build on partnership and cooperation in our progress towards a globally common energy security future for all nations in our interdependent world. I hope to spur up some level of consciousness what it means to the consumer and how it may have impact the possible response on the nation state of the reader and implication for the readers, citizens policy makers and nations move to energy security and quality of life that by identifying these unique behavioural patterns to strategic resource security with links to actions in conflicts with limited compromises and cooperation among nations Energy security with peace could have been free in an ideal world but realistically it is not a free good in our world.  Only our collective effort through cooperation can minimize conflicts and ensure sustainable development with peaceful coexistence in our uncertain energy security future.

  • Could you briefly describe how the world could benefit from an “energy collaboration” among countries?

I believe that the dynamics and sustainable development of our civilization depends on reliable access to energy. It is best assured by strengthened partnership between energy-producing and consuming countries, including enhanced dialogue on growing energy interdependence, security of supply and demand issues. To this end, the issue of security of demand is very important to build on partnership and cooperation in our progress towards a globally common energy security future for all nations in our interdependent world. It is my view that identifying these unique behavioural patterns to strategic resource security with links to actions in conflicts with limited compromises and cooperation among nations Energy security with peace could have been a free good in an ideal world but realistically it is not a free good in our world.  Only our collective effort through cooperation can minimize conflicts and ensure sustainable development with peaceful coexistence in our uncertain energy security future through partnership and planned implementation of workable strategies for a better energy security future with growth and development that benefit all mankind.  In all this discourse, there must be concerted change among nations from conflict to compromise and cooperation towards peace, security and development.

  • Are there some books you are particularly attached to and that you would like to recommend to all readers?

Well I have been involved in writing articles and books in oil and development literation and for our purposes here I would like to recommend some of my unique titles such as The Impact of Oil on a developing Country, The Case of Nigeria (Praeger New York 1990), oil Democracy and the promise of true federalism in Nigeria, Oil and Fiscal federalism and a possibly an exciting article that can possibly become a forthcoming book Nigeria: Oil, Nation Building and Foreign Policy: The Political Economy of Black Gold and Black Power in Africa (Forthcoming),  Nigeria: Oil and External Exposure – The  Crude Gains and The Crude pains of Crude Export dependent Economy. Oil, Democracy and the Promise of True Federalism in Nigeria (University Press of America),. The Battle for African Oil: The Asian Tigers vs. Energy Lions of Euro-America, (NASS Monograph). The Conflicting Choice between Environmental Quality, Development and Human Welfare in Africa; Socio economic, environmental aspects of gas flaring: In Developing nations Environmental Dilemmas: Africa by the Year 2000

  • Are you working on a new writing project you can tell us about?

My new book on Nigeria: Oil, Nation Building and Foreign Policy: The Political Economy of Black Gold and Black Power in Africa  contains sixty (60) chapters, where each topic or area reflects the political and economic interrelationships with consistency and coherency that relates the significance of the link between the black gold, Nation Building and the move towards Nigeria’s Manifest Destiny to be Africa’s black power to the world and the significant role Nigeria has played with her oil-leveraged power in liberation of sister African states from the vestiges of colonial bondage, elimination of apartheid and formidable peacekeeping force as well as being a key player in OPEC and World Energy Scene in the formation of that African Petroleum Producers’ Organization (APPO), African Union (AU), ECOWAS, The Commonwealth of Nations, The Non-Aligned Movement, a strong African voice at the United Nations (UN) and known to be an Emerging Power around the world. blessed with strategic resources and gold items of interest that were attractive to Europe and America even long before its creation. The area where Nigeria stands today is an important part of Africa to which Europe gazed into Africa in the quest for strategic resources that led to the scramble of Africa and consequently the colonization of Africa by European imperial powers. It is essentially a record of the black gold as leverage in nation building and foreign policy.
