Today we talk about Be the Best You, a book by Mary Mathaothe Bosiu published with our Publishing house Europe Books.
Europe Books had the pleasure of interviewing the author, Mary Mathaothe Bosiu, to get to know her better, what prompted her to write her book Be the Best You, as well as the significant life experiences which find expression here, in her book .
Below you can find our interview. Take a seat and enjoy your reading!!!
- What prompted you to the writing of your books?
This question gives me a license to share a STORY behind my authorhood story and it is this: I used to struggle with a huge burden of inferiority complex. You could step on my toes and get away with it and many did just that. Something happened and, in a nutshell, it is this: I embarked on a SELF-IMPROVEMENT. How? By reading books and attending seminars on personal development. This process paved the way for me to learn innumerable nuggets of wisdom. I applied those that resonated with me into my life. I felt duty bound to share what I have learned with other people. I did this through voluntary speaking engagements {initially} and then progressed into writing and publishing inspirational books and articles. All these wiped off my inferiority complex. I have written this book and four others, because I believe that there’s a “STAR” inside each and every one of us waiting to shine bright. For most people, that star will never sparkle because they have no clue as to where to start to be THE BEST that they are meant. My books lay out “THE HOW TO.”
- What is the message you want to convey to your readers?
The MAIN MESSAGE that I have for any reader of any of the books that I have published and those that I am yet to publish is this “YOU ARE NOT AN ACCIDENT!” meaning, you are on planet earth for a unique and special purpose suited for the unique and special you. But I have no intention of deceiving my readers into believing that they will accidentally jump into greatness by simply sitting down, doing nothing about their lives and then expect success and significance to land in their space. This brings me to a SUPPLEMENTARY MESSAGE that I have to any reader of any of my books and it is this: YOUR MAIN JOB IS YOU. Work on yourself. Continually improvement your strengths, made up of your skills and gifts or talents. Remember this: a battery of any car that has been stationary for too long will go flat. The same thing applies to any strength that is not worked on. Go a step further to weed out, or at least minimise, the weaknesses that weaken you, in short: resolve to BE THE BEST YOU!
- What significant life experiences find expression in your book?
All the topics that I have covered in my book are very important. They have effectively transformed my mindset, but what I have shared in Chapter 4 reflects the foundation and corner stone for the direction that my life has taken. Why I am saying this? I am saying that because most people believe that once they have got their academic certificates, Diplomas, Degrees, Honors and Doctorates they have arrived. This where I was many years ago when I got my law degrees {BA Laws plus LLB}. I thought that I had the world at my feet. Little did I realize that I had moved out of an academic university into what I usually call a “UNIVERSITY OF LIFE.” Life has many challenges and problems that cannot be solved through academic accolades. As if that is not enough, we also have this thing called CHANGE. I have since learned, in the “University of Life” that change is the only thing that is constant in our lives. It will always be there. If you do not go with the rhythm of change, it will run you over.
- What sensations did you feel when you saw your book published?
Allow me to begin with where it all started. I had never heard of Europe Books until at end of January 2025 when I accidentally bumped into its FEBRUARY 2025 CALL FOR MANUSCRIPTS. I was assisting a friend that has a desire to write a book. My intention was to refer her to a South African Publishing House that I had worked with. Europe Books’ Call ignited a desire for me to write and submit my Manuscript. I started on the 2nd of February and submitted on the 23rd, a day before the deadline. My expectation was to wait for around 90 days to get a response. My MASSIVE EXCITEMENT came about as a result of:
- An email from Carlo, dated 11th March 2025 informing me that my manuscript had passed the initial assessment; and
- A second email, dated 20th March from Daniele, informing me that my Manuscript had “caught the attention and aroused the interest” of Europe Books.
I have created history in that nobody in my country has done this. I have landed my foot into the global arena and MY JOY IS INDESCRIBABLE!
- Are you working on a new writing project, you can tell us about?
Definitely. I have couple of rough manuscripts under the following titles:
- Inspirational Stories and Quotes
- Fixing a Financial Fix {On financial wisdom}
- Mastering Emotional Mastery {Anger management}
- Unstoppable {a cocktail of various nuggets of wisdom on success}
- Say It, But Say It Right {On communication skills}
Europe Books thanks the author, Mary Mathaothe Bosiu, once again for taking the time and answering our questions. We are really pleased to have walked alongside her on the editorial path that led to the publication of her book Be the Best You. We wish her the best of luck for her future works.
To you, my readers, may this book help you discover the purpose for which you were born into this world, or if you already know it, never forget it! But above all, continue to work on yourself, strengthening your weaknesses and improving your strengths. Always strive to be the best version of yourself, day after day!
So, my dear readers, all I have to say is to enjoy your reading!
