Below you can find our interview. Take a seat and enjoy your reading!!!

  • What was the moment that you decided to transform your grief into a book of poetry?

The moment I decided to turn my grief into a book of poetry didn’t happen suddenly, it grew out of quiet days filled with reflection. After losing my son, I found myself writing during the day, when the house was still and the world kept moving as if nothing had changed. Putting words on paper became a way to breathe again, to make sense of feelings too heavy to carry in silence. At first, the poems were just for me, a private space to hold my love, my questions, and my pain. I never intended to share them; they were simply how I coped, how I spoke the words I couldn’t say aloud. It wasn’t until I showed them to my partner, who read them with tears in his eyes, that I began to see their power. He told me these words could reach others who were grieving too, that they might bring comfort to mothers who felt alone. His encouragement planted a seed, the realisation that something born from heartbreak could become a light for someone else.

  • What messages did you want to convey with your book?

The message I wanted to convey with my book is that love does not end where life does. For every mother who has lost a child, there exists a bond that time, distance, or death can never undo. Through my poems, I wanted to give voice to the quiet ache that so many parents carry, the love that continues to grow even when there is no longer a heartbeat to hold. I also wanted to remind grieving mothers that they are not alone. Grief can make the world feel small and isolating, but there is a shared strength among those who have walked this path. My words are an invitation to pause, to breathe, and to feel seen. More than anything, this book is about hope. It’s about finding light in the cracks of loss, remembering that even in our sorrow, we are still connected to our children, to one another, and to the unbreakable love that remains.

  • What would you say to parents who lost a child and are trying to survive in this world carrying this grief within them?

To any parent carrying the grief of losing a child, I want to say first, you are not alone. Even though the world may move on and expect you to do the same, your love and your pain are both valid. There’s no timeline for healing, no right way to grieve. Some days you will feel strong; others, you will barely make it through. Both are okay. I would tell them that it’s possible to live and grieve at the same time. Your child will always be part of you their love woven into every heartbeat, every breath, every small act of courage. The ache may never leave, but neither will the love that created it. Be gentle with yourself. Speak their name. Honour their memory in whatever way feels right. You are still their parent, still loving, still carrying them and that love is what will help you survive.

  • How would you describe your writing style?

I would describe my writing style as emotional, honest, and deeply reflective. My poems come from a place of raw feeling, shaped by love, loss, and the quiet strength that follows heartbreak. I tend to write in simple, lyrical language that allows emotion to breathe words that feel personal but still speak universally to others who have known grief. I use rhythm and imagery softly, to create space for the reader to pause and feel. Nature often appears in my work, flowers, stars, the changing seasons because they mirror the way grief moves through us, never gone, but constantly transforming. Above all, my style is guided by sincerity. Every line I write is rooted in truth and compassion. I want my poetry to feel like a conversation a comforting hand, a shared understanding, or a small light in the dark for anyone who needs to feel less alone.

  • Are you working on a new writing project you can tell us about?

Yes, I am currently working on a new collection that continues exploring themes of grief, love, and healing but this time, it’s written as a message for other grieving mothers rather than about my own story. It’s a book of comfort, recognition, and gentle hope. Each piece speaks to the shared experience of loss, the quiet strength it takes to keep going, and the ways love continues to grow even after goodbye. This project feels like a natural continuation of my first book. While Because of Blake was very personal, this one reaches outward to form connection and community through shared understanding. My goal is to offer words that mothers can see themselves in, something that says: you are seen, your child matters, and your love still lives on. It’s a deeply emotional project, but one that feels peaceful too like turning sorrow into light, one poem at a time.
