Today we talk about THE WIDOW’S WILL, a book by Carl Johard published with our publishing house Europe Books.
Europe Books had the pleasure of interviewing the author Carl Johard to get to know him better, where he found the inspiration to the write his book THE WIDOW’S WILL, as well as how he describes his writing stytle.
Below you can find our interview. Take a seat and enjoy your reading!!!
- Where did you find the inspiration to write this book?
The main character, Maximilian Hård av Segerstad, alias Max Hard, has strong traits from me and some of the journalist colleagues I have had the pleasure of collaborating with over the years in the global financial world. Max is both a fearless truth seeker and a truth teller with a strong passion for justice and a never-ending drive to expose many of the world’s injustices. My books are digital fraternal twins of reality, even though many of the names and events described have been artistically reworked and changed. All the characters in the books also exist in my immediate surroundings in the industrial, financial and journalistic world I have lived and still reside in. I am a global financial journalist, who in recent years, together with my eldest AI guru son, has been deeply involved in the development of several AI-focused startup companies.
- What are the crucial themes of your work?
I have so far written nine in a planned series of ten books about Max Hard. The theme of the first book is about what is perhaps the most common of our seven cardinal sins, namely greed. Today, old, more loving values such as solidarity and family have become unfashionable and obsolete. A large part of the interests of contemporary society are now focused on greed, self-love and egocentricity. And in times like these it’s only natural that some of the biggest unscrupulous actors, such as rich oligarchs and organized gangsters, are attracted to the financial world. The book weaves together different underlying messages including that of the questionable activities of the super-rich and how governments and so-called more serious bankers interact. Together they ensure that the black and often bloodstained capital is laundered clean. In this shadowy world of murder and conspiracies, Max Hard and his colleagues find themselves on an adventurous journey through England, Spain, Luxembourg and Sweden, while the events in ancient Russia cast a dark shadow over todays Europe.
- What would you like to hear from your readers about this work?
I have already received a very positive response from early readers and editors. They describe the book as exciting, engaging, multi-faceted and dark at the same time as it is light. They found the book to be thrilling, absorbing, attractive and well-written. They say they really liked the intriguing plot and the most fascinating cast of characters.
- How do you describe your Writing style?
My readers say they like the engaging quality of the prose, which successfully delivers them as a reader into the journalistic activities of Max Hard as a political entity in a changing world. The prose is both direct, minimalistic and factual and at the same time poetic and soulfully multi-faceted. It is deliberately written at a high pace with many dialogues and short chapters. The reader is constantly left out into a boundless reality, where anything can happen. One reviewer compared me to the early Ian Fleming books, which made me very happy and proud.
- Are you planning to write more books? Can you tell us something about it?
Nine out of ten books have already been written in the series. With its digital keys Max Hard search for answers, he undertakes breathtaking journeys all over the world, where he seeks out the international conglomerates, financial institutions and corrupt politicians, who, like shadowy cockroaches, work intensively in the financial sewer darkness, handling raw materials, drug routes, human trafficking and geopolitical conspiracies. In the many adventures in coming books, a lot of still unknown truths are revealed – the dirty global commodity and arms trade, the Palme assassination, the real background to the Covid pandemic, the immoral non-world of the intelligence services, the red human trafficking, the attack of nanoplastics on human existence and the real climate threat, which is not spelled CO2. In the last book, which I’m currently writing, Max, due to the raw and unforgiving nature of humanity, has chosen to leave journalism and instead travel around the world in search of the perfect philosophical basis for our society. Does it exist? We will soon find out.
