Today we talk about NEBUCHADNEZZAR II A Fictional Redemption Drama of a Malignant Narcissist, a book by Pastor Folorunsho Cornelius Ogundele published with our publishing house Europe Books.
Europe Books had the pleasure of interviewing the author Pastor Folorunsho Cornelius Ogundele to get to know him better, what inspired him to the writing of his book of NEBUCHADNEZZAR II A Fictional Redemption Drama of a Malignant Narcissist, as well as how he felt to see his book published.
Below you can find our interview. Take a seat and enjoy your reading!!!
- Where did you find the inspiration to write this book?
Writing this book is like joining a chorus of secular and sacred historians, past, present, and future, who have been inspired and fascinated by a timeless historical and legendary figure, namely, Nebuchadnezzar II. Nebuchadnezzar II was a familiar, not an obscure, figure in the annals of human history. Ancient and modern historians, sacred and secular writers, found the stamps of genius and ingenuity in Nabopolassar’s son, the atrocious king of ancient Babylon. Nebuchadnezzar II was famous for his warfare and brutality, empire-building, religious fervor, political cunning, and economic creativity. His arrogant political, economic, religious, psychosocial, and atrocious behavioral anomalies captured the attention of ancient civilizations, stunned the biblical Prophets, and arrested the imagination of the modern era. To bring the story to post-modern minds, I employed the imagination of a psychoanalyst, put the legendary figure on a psychoanalytic couch, probed his psyche, brought him to a catharsis, and poured his mind out to the entire human race by recalling and retelling his life’s story. It is like calling up a man long dead, several thousand years ago.
- What are the crucial themes of your work?
The central theme is the genius of an individual who could be diagnosed with Narcissistic Personality Disorder, the Malignant Type, namely, Nebuchadnezzar II. Emerging from the central themes are the development of personality disorders, leadership, empire building, ancient war strategies, courage, creativity, political and economic acumen, religious experience, and redemption. My book, “The Rise and Fall of Satan: A Socio-Cultural and Psycho-Spiritual Analysis of the Most Invisible and Enigmatic Figure in Human History,” sets the stage for the major themes of this drama. Readers of The Rise and Fall of Satan will remember that, from biblical prophetic insights, the author described Nebuchadnezzar II as a “Satan-Incarnate Personality In Disorder” whose psychological profiles fit perfectly with an individual that may be diagnosed with “Narcissistic Personality Disorder, the Malignant Type.” Readers of “The Rise and Fall of Satan” will also remember that I described Nebuchadnezzar II as an individual whose abhorrent behaviors were influenced by an invisible being, namely, the Biblical Lucifer, an angel of light, whose name was changed to Satan, who was thrown out of heaven, owing to pride and disobedience. Towards the end of the analysis, I pointed out that Nebuchadnezzar II had a change of heart and repented of his atrocious behavior, and that this change was due to a controversial and unusual traumatic religious experience, as manifested in the leading actor’s second existential dream.
- What do you want to communicate to readers with this work?
Watching the film adaptation and reading the book will connect and convey to the audience the courage and identity of an individual unashamed of his ugly past and the changes he experienced, making his life’s drama universal and relevant to most human experiences. The leading actor’s experience connects emotionally and rationally with every audience. Although the main character is a man who lived and died in one of the world’s remote yet renowned cultural environments, the theme of his drama appeals to people of diverse cultures, races, colors, ethnicities, genders, and ages. It is a drama about life and its maladies. Readers will gain insights into how to make significant life changes, especially if they are plagued by any human psychopathologies or the type of human woe experienced by our leading actor. Religious film enthusiasts and book lovers, especially Christians, would be fascinated by the book’s redemption story. More often than not, Bible-believing Christians are neither blind to God’s amazing grace nor fail to respond with joy to God’s restorative redemption in Christ. God’s power to redeem even the worst sinner remains a living witness in Biblical experience. Redemption of individuals diagnosed with Narcissistic Personality Disorder or any other human psychopathology is no exception. My aim in presenting Nebuchadnezzar II’s drama is to awaken readers’ imaginations from all walks of life. I invite readers to take an imaginary journey into the mind of a distant past historical figure to enjoy an exciting story and have fun. The audience is welcome to engage in dialogue and discover a helpful scenario for addressing common woes that plague daily life and distort meaningful relationships. For the Christian audience, it is good to know that the Bible still speaks to the human heart and that God can change and redeem the worst sinner. The goal is to have fun, gain insight, and avoid getting engrossed in professional controversies. I also invite the film industry to seek actors to play Nebuchadnezzar II, a typical Malignant Narcissist in this story’s fictional/historical character.
- How did it feel to see your book published?
It is a good feeling. I will be more excited about a film adaptation of the book.
- Are you planning to write more books? Can you tell us something about it?
Yes. I am writing a novel based on the biblical account of love, betrayal, and restoration. An excerpt from the book:
Prelude: Read by the Announcer
To all men and women throughout the Universe. Old and young, sacred and dissolute. Whether you anticipate being in love, are in love, out of love, or in between, you are about to watch a spectacular story and learn from a strange tale. It is a stunning saga of love, betrayal, reconciliation, and restoration. This awe-inspiring story is for you. The story will amaze you. It will keep you wondering.
Note: Due to my work schedule, it will take some time to complete the book. Also, I will be looking for a publisher that will produce a film adaptation of the novel.
