Today we talk about Journey to the Source of Consciousness, a book by Fred Van Oystaeyen published with our publishing house Europe Books.
Europe Books had the pleasure of interviewing the author Fred Van Oystaeyen to get to know him better, what prompted him to the writing of his book Journey to the Source of Consciousness, as well as the messages he wants to communicate to his readers.
Below you can find our interview. Take a seat and enjoy your reading!!!
- What is the moment that brought you to the writing of your book?
After making a generic model of reality – a process theoretic “dynamic time interval-moment” model replacing spacetime – I was wondering how scientific paradigms, in particular in Physics and Biology, transfer under the assumption that the universe would be described by my new model. The basic idea is that existing reality is a process starting with potentials at moments and is thus generated from the non-existing void; it took a few years to develop the abstract model, the breakdown of cause- consequence to “organic causality” marked to start of this book project. Language and communication, pseudo-organism moral and human moral, and awareness and consciousness need new reconsideration. Hence the project became rather multidisciplinary.
- What are the crucial themes of your book?
Everything happening in reality has organic causes at moments when the processes start in the void, the potentials being connected by correspondences which later will result in changes which can sometimes be observed and form observed reality. Anti-intuitive results in quantum theory yield elegant explanations but statistics does not fit the model of reality! In biology a global version of evolution theory appears which is a network starting at the micro-level even in the non-existing void! In physics the role of geometry diminishes, depends on some ad-hoc choices, the dynamic version of space is more chaotic. The structure of societies where people are time-hybrids, stepping in and out of time via their abstract world, depends on possible pre-interactions in the void where thinking and communication processes start.
- What is the message you want to communicate to your readers?
The main message derives from the deeper uncertainty properties we meet since the processes in reality start from non-existing potentials and existing things do so on non-trivial time intervals, so there are not only Planck-type units for observation, but also minimal time intervals things need to manifest at as existing. Hence by letting time go to zero in classical physics you do not only leave the observed reality but at smaller levels even the existing reality! The real causality (organic causality!) is unobservable but even non-existing yet in momentary potentials. The “scientific doubt” replaces certainty and becomes fundamental in philosophy. On the other hand, the micro-structure in the void allows unmeasurable amounts of interaction possibilities having “”dark” (but natura!) effects in the existing reality. There is no theory of everything and research by the scientific method can go on forever! Creative potentials without history in the universe’s evolution make the ongoing creation of reality.
- Which authors of the present and/or the past do you take as a model?
I was always inspired by Mathematicians like Emmy Noether, Alexander Grothendieck and Pierre Deligne, but was always critical with the philosophers. My father had a large library with books about all religions and most, if not all, philosophers of the world; as a young man I read most of these works, before I became too involved with my mathematical research. The philosophy did not satisfy me but kept me interested in new ideas, I always found disagreements with any philosophy and got convinced that was probably the aim of serious writers, not to claim some truth but to try to find a path of exploration for some possibilities. To model myself after someone else would feel like selling my soul, but to search for such a path is an attitude I accepted.
- Are you working on a new writing project you can tell us about?
About future projects, I can mention two. I did promise my oldest granddaughter to write a teenager book “The Oceanauts” which should be a very grand adventure in the oceans, the plan is constructed now, but the main problem is the choice of the language, Dutch or English. The second is a student book on Planar Geometry at the level of the pre-university (middle school). This is our reaction to the world-wide lowering of the education level, in many schools mathematics is being taught without giving full proofs and without giving real insight in the content. This is as good as finished. Since science publishers charge very high price’s, we (me and co-author F. Caenepeel) may decide to self-publish it cheaply on Amazon, we will see.
Europe Books thanks the author Fred Van Oystaeyen once again for taking the time and answering our questions. We are really pleased to have walked alongside him on the editorial path that led to the publication of his book Journey to the Source of Consciousness. We wish him the best of luck for his book and for his future works.
To you, my dear reader, may this books intrigue you and provide you with food for thought to apply on your everyday life.
So, my dear reader, all I have to say is to enjoy your reading!
Your Editor!
