Europe Books is proud to present “Emo Fanzine”, a book by Emon and Co

Today we talk about Emo Fanzine, a book by Emon and Co published with our publishing house Europe Books.

Europe Books had the pleasure of interviewing the author Emon and Co to get to know him better, where he found the inspiration to write his book of poetry Emo Fanzine, as well as how he describes his writing style.

Below you can find our interview. Take a seat and enjoy your reading!!!

  • Where did you find the inspiration to write this book of poetry?

Such concise questions. I’ll answer off the cusp to be more sporadic, than contrived. I was at a Chess tournament, and Dharshan Kumaran the U18 World Chess Champion he walked in and greeted Irfan, and then he said hi to me, and everyone started looking at me to see who I was. We were part of the same school St. Paul’s School Team. Irfan and Dharshan were like little Princes. In the school minibus, Irfan, 2 years older, used to play his music to everyone. He later became ‘The Little Indian’ in The Shamen, a famous dance band. At 13, I thought I wanted to write lyrics to this. Caspar first introduced me to Duran Duran and their Wedding Album came out the same year. Dharshan Kumaran used to boast he has the same birthday as Prince, the musician. Irfan even said, ‘We’re going to play some Garys.’ Which was a compliment, because the Adult World Champion was Garry Kasparov. Mr McKenzie, my English teacher told me to write a poem and I got the same mark as Julian Furman, a famous Jewish author who wrote This is How we Talk. My other hero was Dan Snow, the year prefect, who let my collar bone regrow without bullying.

  • What are the crucial themes of your work?

General knowledge, humour and a fascination of how the seedy aspect of life destroys people.

  • What would you like to hear from your readers about your book?

I want my books to be bought. I think it’s a good price. Once I was eating Nik Naks and dropped some for the ants. They sniffed it and instead of carrying it on their back to the nest, they ignored it and carried on walking. Maybe I’m more Saccharine than Avril Lavigne. I was a Poster Boy for Empire magazine for a 4 month mainstay, I felt people were being told to avoid my music, which is poetry after all. I thought the music was 9/10 good, but the Bass Machine with edge gets all the sales, and melody.

  • How do you describe your writing style?

Slightly above average word count. English is my only language. I once went to Paris and was nearly blown up by ETA in 1995. I now have a fear of France. I’ve forgotten my French. That was my second language. I was good at Latin too. Not Old English, but Old Italian. I use general knowledge for children without good parents, and I use humour. It’s a cross between being lyrical and free verse.

  • Are you planning to write more books? Can you tell us something about it?

Yes, I’m going to release Emon and Co Emo Fanzine Part 2 with 30 poems, to make 100 poems like Auden’s book. It’s already written up. It will be slightly shorter, but the same quality. After that I’ll stop. I haven’t got Writer’s Block, I feel burnt out. I couldn’t really afford children. I want children, and that’s a full-time job in itself.

Europe Books thanks the author Emon and Co once again for taking the time and answering our questions. We are really pleased to have walked alongside him on the editorial path that led to the publication of his book Emo Fanzine. We wish him the best of luck for his book and for his future works.

To you, my dear reader, may this book capture your attention and curiosity and at the same time provide you with food for thought to apply in your everyday life!

So, my dear reader, all I have to say is to enjoy your reading!

Your Editor!
