Below you can find our interview. Take a seat and enjoy your reading!!!

  • What prompted to the writing of your autobiographical book?

The Journey of Alista Bishop was born out of a deep internal reckoning. There came a point in my life where silence no longer felt like protection—it felt like erasure. I realized that much of my journey had been lived in survival mode, constantly adapting, enduring, and pushing forward without pausing to process the weight of it all. Writing this book became a necessary act of truth-telling, both to myself and to others who may see parts of their own lives reflected in mine. The motivation was not fame or validation, but legacy. I wanted to document the lessons learned through adversity, faith, identity, and perseverance, while also honoring the woman I’ve become through those experiences. The book allowed me to reclaim moments that once felt fragmented and give them coherence and meaning. Ultimately, this autobiography was prompted by the understanding that stories—especially those told honestly—have power. Power to heal, to educate, and to remind others that growth often comes through journeys we never planned, but were strong enough to survive.

  • What would you like to hear from your readers?

What I hope to hear most from readers of The Journey of Alista Bishop is not simply that they enjoyed the book, but that it moved them toward reflection and courage. I want readers to tell me that the story resonated with their own experiences—whether through struggle, self-discovery, faith, or resilience. If someone finishes the book feeling less alone, more seen, or more empowered to confront their own truth, then the purpose of the work has been fulfilled. I would also value hearing how the book challenged readers—how it caused them to question assumptions about strength, success, womanhood, or healing. Honest storytelling is meant to disrupt comfort in meaningful ways. Above all, I hope readers feel inspired to honor their own journeys, no matter how complex or unconventional they may be. Hearing that my transparency encouraged someone else to speak, heal, or move forward would be the greatest affirmation that this book has extended beyond my story and into shared human experience.

  • How would you describe your Writing style?

My writing style in The Journey of Alista Bishop is reflective, deliberate, and emotionally honest. I write with intention—choosing clarity over embellishment and truth over performance. The style is rooted in lived experience, but shaped by introspection and maturity. I do not shy away from vulnerability, yet I am equally committed to presenting strength, growth, and accountability alongside it. The narrative voice is personal and direct, inviting readers into my inner world without sensationalizing pain or struggle. I focus on meaning rather than chronology, allowing emotions, lessons, and insights to guide the storytelling. Faith, identity, and resilience subtly inform the tone, creating a balance between rawness and hope. Ultimately, my writing style reflects who I am: thoughtful, self-aware, and grounded. It is less about telling readers what to think and more about offering space for reflection. I want readers to feel as though they are walking alongside me—not as spectators, but as fellow travellers navigating their own journeys.

  • How did it feel to “read” your life on the pages of your book?

Reading my life on the pages of The Journey of Alista Bishop was both confronting and deeply affirming. There were moments when revisiting certain experiences stirred emotions I had long compartmentalized—pain, disappointment, and loss—but also pride, resilience, and gratitude. Seeing my story written out forced me to acknowledge not just what I endured, but how much strength it took to endure it. It felt like standing outside myself and viewing my life with greater compassion and understanding. Writing transformed experiences that once felt heavy and unresolved into lessons with clarity and purpose. While some chapters were difficult to relive, the process was ultimately healing. It allowed me to honor my younger self, forgive where necessary, and recognize growth that may have gone unnoticed in the busyness of survival. Reading the finished work gave me a sense of closure and ownership. It reminded me that my life is not defined solely by challenges, but by the choices I made to rise, to reflect, and to continue forward with intention.

  • Are you working on a new writing project you can tell us about?

Yes, I am currently in the early stages of developing a new writing project that builds upon the foundation laid in The Journey of Alista Bishop. While my autobiography focused on understanding and articulating my past, this next project is more forward-facing. It explores themes of legacy, purpose, faith, and intentional living—particularly what comes after survival. This work will be less about recounting events and more about reflection, insight, and guidance drawn from lived experience. I am interested in examining how we evolve once we have confronted our truth, and how we consciously shape the lives we want to lead moving forward. The project will blend personal reflection with broader commentary on growth, discipline, and self-awareness. At its core, this new work is about transition—moving from healing to wholeness, from endurance to direction. While still deeply personal, it aims to speak to a wider audience seeking clarity, meaning, and alignment in their own journeys.
