Today we talk about When We Are On Hormones a book by Minka Maria Izida published with our Publishing Europe Books.
Europe Books had the pleasure of interviewing the author, Minka Maria Izida, to get to know her better, what prompted her to the writing of her book When We Are On Hormones, as well as how she summarises her guide in 3 key main points.
Below you can find our interview. Take a seat and enjoy your reading!!!
- What prompted you to the writing of your book?
I struggled with major hormonal issues.Today I know that at the age of 44, I was already in pre-menopause. At the time, I thought I was pregnant. I would have welcomed another child (I’m a mother of three now-grown daughters), but even the pregnancy test confirmed that I was not pregnant. Nevertheless, I was searching for a book that would guide me through nutrition during hormonal changes. There are “time bombs” stored in our bodies, waiting to be triggered—especially in people who are sensitive to sugar. These time bombs often show up as intense cravings for carbohydrates, which can lead to sudden weight gain. I gained weight for the first time during puberty, the second time during each pregnancy. And when I even thought about gaining weight uncontrollably again, I decided to write a book about hormones. Because once we understand hormonal changes throughout life—and especially the hunger hormone insulin—everything becomes much simpler.
- What characteristics your audience should have to appreciate your book?
My readers are mainly women who want to understand their bodies, transform them, and feel healthy and satisfied in their own skin. With the book When We Are on Hormones, even women who had long given up hope—and who may be carrying more than 50 kilos of excess weight—can successfully lose weight. In Slovenia, a woman named Alda lost weight from 140 kilos to 68 kilos—she released an incredible 72 kilos of excess body fat. The first step toward change is our inner dialogue. If we repeat statements we don’t truly believe, we actually create even more stress at the cellular level than if we said nothing at all. That’s why, in the first chapter, I included affirmations that we can believe:
I allow my body to transform.
I accept healing.
I am aware that my body is capable of renewal and transformation—simply because I allow myself to love and value who I am.
- What messages did you want to convey with your book?
Life is beautiful. Life is wonderful. No matter the obstacles we face, no matter the difficult lessons life brings us, life is still beautiful. I believe in the power of positive energy. Hormones connect our emotions, thoughts, and body. When we understand this, we realize that we have influence—especially over what we focus on and how we think. That’s why, already in the very first chapter, I offer a solution for clearing the patterns that guide our behavior. We tend to think negatively—about ourselves, about life, about others—and this negative thinking acts like a virus, much like a computer virus. Clearing subconscious beliefs about ourselves—such as I am not good enough, I don’t deserve happiness, or everything is pointless—is the first step toward self-love. In the book When We Are on Hormones, you will learn right at the beginning how to clean subconscious beliefs about yourself. In the following chapters, I guide you through the hormonal centers and teach you how to nourish each one individually.
- How would you summarise the 3 key points of your guide?
Personal growth for women seeking hormonal balance I’ll guide you in releasing negative self-beliefs, fear of lack, and the need to please everyone else. Delicious meal plans and recipes for healthy weight loss. Simple, nourishing, and tasty foods that support your hormones, energy, and well-being. Understanding your body, hormones, and inner patterns. When you truly understand yourself, you can create a life that supports you in every decision you make. Here is a short message to my reader: I HELP YOU build a healthy self-image, start taking care of yourself with love, and finally live a happy, healthy, and successful life.Throug the book When We Are on Hormones, I will teach you the key steps I took to clear my negative self-beliefs, to release the fear of lack and the fear of loss (love, financial security), to stop pleasing everyone except myself, and to create a life that fulfills me and supports me in every decision I make.
- Are you working on a new writing project you can tell us about?
Yes – I am currently preparing a new cookbook focused on hormonal balance and longevity. It’s a simple guide for people who love flavorful food and at the same time want to support their hormonal balance. The book will offer everyday meal plans and recipes made with ordinary, non-exotic ingredients. They are delicious, easy to prepare, and—most importantly—designed to help balance blood sugar levels. When we understand the glycemic index of foods—and even more importantly, when we realize that we can eat everything, as long as the combinations are right—eating becomes simple and stress-free. Let me share the first tip here: healthy eating should become a priority—because we live with our bodies for our entire lives. When the body begins to weaken, the first step toward better health is always proper nutrition. If you are used to eating unhealthy snacks, it’s very possible that you’re addicted to sugar. This addiction can be overcome by following the principle of a medium glycemic index—a topic I also write about in my book When We Are on Hormones. Every time you eat, ask yourself: “Where is the protein in this meal?” If you can’t find the answer, simply drink 100 ml of plain yogurt with no added sugar alongside your meal. You’ll see that in less than three days, your cravings for sweets will stop—or at least be significantly reduced.
Europe Books thanks the author, Minka Maria Izida, once again for taking the time and answering our questions. We are really pleased to have walked alongside her on the editorial path that led to the publication of her book When We Are On Hormones. We wish her the best of luck for her future works.
To you, my readers, may this book provide you with all the information you need about hormones and how their proper functioning is important for connecting our emotions, thoughts, and bodies. This connection, if it works, ensures a healthy life. I hope you find your own way to make this connection fluid and for your benefit.
So, my dear readers, all I have to say is to enjoy your reading! Above all, talk about it and don’t withdraw into yourself.
Your editor!
